Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has been granted an Air Carrier Licence (ACL) by the Ghanaian Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). According to the Ghana News Agency, the start-up is named Baby Jet Airlines (Accra). With the license in hand, the start-up is now permitted to begin with its AOC certification drive.

In the wake of Gyan's announcement, former WBC featherweight and WBC super featherweight champion, Azumah Nelson, was linked to his own aviation project by several local media outlets. However, he later denied the reports as "not true".

According to the ch-aviation start-up database, Baby Jet is one of several prospective operators including Goldstar Airlines, Royal Fly-Gh, and the resurgent CiTylinK. If successful in securing its AOC, BabyJet will compete with established carriers such as Africa World Airlines and Starbow Airlines in the scheduled passenger niche, and Aberdair Aviation Ghana, Gianair, Solenta Aviation Ghana, BF Jet Air, and Unicorn Air in the passenger charter sector.
