Volaris Costa Rica (Q6, San José Juan Santamaría) has announced it will launch four routes to the United States on March 15, 2018, connecting points in Central America with Los Angeles International, Washington Dulles and New York JFK.

While Volaris specified neither the exact city-pairs nor the schedule in its statement, ch-aviation analysis of the LCC's booking system revealed that the airline intends to operate 2x weekly from San José Juan Santamaría via San Salvador International to each of Los Angeles, New York JFK and Washington Dulles, as well as 2x weekly from San José via Guatemala City to Los Angeles.

Parent carrier Volaris currently serves Los Angeles from various Mexican airports and New York JFK from Guadalajara and México City International.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Volaris Costa Rica currently operates a fleet of one A319-100 and two A320-200s. The airline was launched in 2016 and plans to operate between eighteen and twenty-two Airbus aircraft by the end of 2019. Its Mexican parent company currently operates sixty-seven aircraft, including six A320-200neos. ch-aviation understands that plans are currently afoot for a Volaris Guatemala (VGU, Guatemala City) unit.
