SilkAir (SLK, Singapore Changi) will transfer its services out of Singapore Changi to each of Langkawi, Pekanbaru, and Kalibo to the low-cost unit Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi) effective April 8, May 30 and June 28, 2018, respectively.

The regional arm of the Singapore Airlines Group currently operates to each of the three destinations 3x weekly.

"We are constantly reviewing our route operations to ensure optimisation of the SIA Group’s resources. The transfer of these three services, Langkawi, Pekanbaru and Kalibo, is a move to do just that and also presents a better match of capacity to demand,” SilkAir Chief Executive Officer Foo Chai Woo said.

Langkawi in Malaysia is currently served by SilkAir with a mix of A319-100 and A320, while Scoot already flies there 3x weekly with A320 equipment. The route is also operated 10x weekly by AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International).

For its part, Pekanbaru in Indonesia is served by SilkAir with A320s, while Scoot currently does not fly there. Singapore Airlines Group competes on this service with Jetstar Asia Airways (3K, Singapore Changi), which operates 3 weekly flights with A320s.

Scoot serves Kalibo in the Phillippines 4x weekly, including once via Cebu. Similarly, out of 3 weekly flights operated by SilkAir, one is via Cebu. There are no other carriers on this route.
