bmi british midland (Nottingham East Midlands) will launch new services this summer season: Birmingham-Aberdeen: three times daily ERJ-135/ERJ-145 service starting on March 29 operated by bmi regional (II/Aberdeen) (replacing bmibaby (WW/Nottingham on the route) London Heathrow-Kiev Borispol: five times weekly A321-200 service starting on March 29. bmi will terminate its services from London Heathrow to Durham Tees Valley, Jersey and Leeds/Bradford on March 28 and will also not resume its London Heathrow-Naples route this summer season however and make use of the slots for additional medium haul services and flights on behalf of or by parent Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl) to Milan Malpensa (operated by Lufthansa Italia (Milan Malpensa) in a codeshare with bmi) and to Berlin Tegel (operated by bmi on behalf of Lufthansa). bmi regional services between Leeds/Bradford and Copenhagen Kastrup will already be given up on March 1. bmi has entered into a bilateral codeshare agreements with Air Malta (KM/Malta), Blue 1 (KF/Helsinki) and Ethiopian Airlines (ET/Addis Ababa). It will codeshare on Air Malta services from Amsterdam, Birmingham, Brussels Ntl, Glasgow Intl, London Gatwick, London Heathrow and Manchester to Malta and between London Gatwick and Catania. Air Malta will mainly codeshare on bmi domestic services in the UK. Besides cooperation on domestic routes in Finland and the UK, the partnership with Star Alliance carrier Blue 1 will see bmi putting its BD code on Blue 1 services between Heathrow and Helsinki while Ethiopian and bmi will codeshare on the Heathrow-Addis Ababa route operated by both carriers. bmi has also extended its codeshare agreement with Virgin Atlantic (VS/London Heathrow) and now has put its code on Virgin Atlantic transatlantic services from London Heathrow to Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco. Virgin Atlantic now codeshares on bmi services from Heathrow to Aberdeen, Amman Queen Alia, Beirut, Belfast City, Edinburgh, Glasgow Intl, Manchester, Tehran Imam Khomeini and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion.
