Shaheen Air International (Karachi International) has been denied access to passenger boarding airbridges at Faisalabad, Karachi International, and Lahore International airports purportedly due to unpaid airport fees amounting to PKR540 million rupees (USD4.7 million), Business Recorder has reported.

According to the report, the carrier has attempted to fight the debt in court but its plea has been rejected after judges upheld its obligation to pay the outstanding fees to the Pakistani Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), which operates all airports in the country.

Marketing Director for Shaheen Air Zohaib Hassan has said that the carrier has been in touch with the PCAA adding that despite the steps taken by the authorities, the airline has continued to operate its normal schedule without major disruptions.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Shaheen Air currently operates 38 weekly departures out of each of Karachi and Lahore, and merely five weekly departures out of Faisalbad.
