Flair Airlines (F8, Kelowna) has announced it will focus on operations to and from Edmonton International in the future, establishing the city as its main transfer hub and operational headquarters.
"Flair will continue to expand its network to/from Edmonton by growing its frequency and network - both domestic and trans-border; announcing new low-fare routes in the coming weeks. Flair will also progressively relocate its operations and executive base in Edmonton," the Canadian LCC has said.
According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Edmonton is already Flair's largest market with 104 weekly departures, 35.1% of all.
Flair Airlines, traditionally a charter specialist turned a scheduled low-cost carrier in the last few months, currently operates an exclusively domestic network in Canada. It had earlier planned to launch trans-border services to the United States in the second quarter of 2018 but this has now been postponed.
The carrier's main competitors include Swoop (Hamilton, ON), a low-cost unit of WestJet which launched on June 20, and Canada Jetlines (AU, Toronto Pearson), which had also planned to launch in June 2018 but has postponed the date due to aircraft delivery delays, most likely to 2019. The flag carrier Air Canada also maintains a low-cost unit, Air Canada rouge.
