DHL Express has announced it has placed an order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for fourteen B777-Fs, along with options and purchase rights for an additional seven freighters. The delivery of the first four aircraft is expected to be completed in 2019.

Ken Allen, CEO, DHL Express, said in a statement that the added B777 freighters would be used to gradually replace the global logistics giant's older intercontinental fleet. Their operational performance will also allow for improved non-stop connectivity.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, DHL currently has five B777 freighters in service through its Southern Air (Cincinnati International) partner in the United States. In total, it operates over 260 aircraft across 40 AOCs spanning the entire globe.
