Several firms have expressed an interest in acquiring HNA Group's stake in Virgin Australia Holdings (VAH), sources familiar with developments have told Bloomberg.

According to the report, prospective investors have been eyeing HNA Tourism Group Co. Ltd's 19.17% stake in the carrier holding given its parent firm's recent push to raise funds via the liquidation of various assets and equity footholds.

Among the firms reported to have an interest in buying HNA Group's shares are Singapore Airlines and Nanshan Capital which already own 20.09% and 19.98% of VAH respectively.

VAH did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Other shareholders in VAH include Etihad Airways with 21.83% and Corvina Holdings, a BVI-based firm which is controlled by Virgin Group, with 10.42%.
