Kuwait Airways (KU, Kuwait) has ordered eight A330-800s from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) during a signing ceremony at the European manufacturer's headquarters in Toulouse Blagnac on Monday, October 15.

According to the state-owned carrier, deliveries of the new aircraft will run from March 2019 through to the end of 2026. They will be used to replace leased aircraft currently in use.

As previously reported, Kuwait Airways has also scaled back its A350-900 order book from the original 10 to five of the type.

"Based on the above, Kuwait Airways' fleet will consist of 38 aircraft including five A350-900s, eight A330-800neo, fifteen A320neo, and ten B777-300(ER)s," CEO Yousef Al Jassim said.

Currently, Kuwait Airways' mainline passenger fleet includes eleven A320ceo (of which five are leased from Macquarie AirFinance), five A330-200s (leased from International Airfinance), one B747-400(M), and ten B777-300(ER)s.
