British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) has announced it will launch a new 2x weekly seasonal London Heathrow-Charleston, SC route on April 4, 2019. The service will mark the introduction of intercontinental operations from the South Carolinian airport.

The flights will operate with B787-8 equipment. The last flight is currently scheduled for October 24, 2019.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Charleston currently sees 518 weekly departures exclusively on domestic routes. The largest airlines at the airport are American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth), Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson), and United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare).

Charleston is set to become BA's twenty-sixth US destination. The British flag carrier currently operates 319 weekly flights to the US, with more than one-fifth of them headed to New York JFK.
