Air France-KLM has denied reports in the French press that had claimed the group was looking to close its new semi-low-cost brand Joon (France) (Paris CDG).

"Air France-KLM denies the information that it was decided to stop the activity of the company Joon. No decision of this kind was taken," the holding said in a statement published by Agefi/Dow Jones.

The group added that as of now, Joon continues to operate normally.

Earlier, Le Figaro had reported that the new CEO of the holding, Ben Smith, had seen little added-value in the brand, created in 2017 mostly to target millennials. Joon currently operates four A340-300s, seven A320-200s, and five A321-200s on a range of routes out of Paris CDG, including Fortaleza International, Cape Town International, Mumbai International, Cairo International, and Mahé, as well as a number of European short- and medium-haul destinations.

The unit is also due to receive three A350-900s within the next few months.
