Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas Harry Reid) has announced plans to re-establish a two-aircraft base at Grand Rapids, MI, Michigan later this summer season. The Nevada-based low-cost carrier maintained a base at the airfield between February 2010 and August 2011 when it was closed as part of cost cuts.

However, Allegiant said in a statement that its overall investment in its renewed two-aircraft base would total more than USD42 million bringing with it at least 66 crew and maintenance jobs.

Allegiant currently connects Grand Rapids to each of Fort Lauderdale International, Las Vegas Harry Reid, Phoenix Williams Gateway, Orlando Sanford, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Sarasota/Bradenton, and Punta Gorda, FL. But, as part of its investment, it will open up service to Nashville International, Tennessee and Savannah International, Georgia effective June 4, 2019.

Aside from Allegiant, Grand Rapids is served by American Airlines (through American Eagle), Delta Air Lines (through Delta Connection), Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines (through United Express).
