GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (G3, São Paulo Congonhas) has announced that it will launch six new routes from São Paulo Guarulhos after the state government cut the rate of sales tax on fuel in half.

The Brazilian carrier will connect São Paulo with Cascavel, Passo Fundo Lauro Kurtz, Vitoria da Conquista, Sinop Jao B. Figueiredo, Franca, and Barretos.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Gol's flights will become the maiden scheduled services in Franca and Barredos. The remaining four airports are all served by Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos), which connects it with various hubs around the country, including São Paulo Viracopos. Vitoria da Conquista also sees Passaredo Linhas Aéreas (Ribeirão Preto Leite Lopes) services, including to Guarulhos.

Gol said that all flights will operate onboard B737-700 aircraft. Cascavel, Vitoria da Conquista, and Passo Fundo will be served double daily from August 2019 and Sinop daily from November 2019. The airline did not confirm the launch date and the schedule for Franca and Barretos operations, other than saying that they will launch in the second half of 2019.

In February, the São Paulo state government announced a tax cut in the ICMS (sales tax) rate for fuel from 25% to 12%.

"These new flights are the first phase of our expansion in São Paulo, which aims to strengthen the competitive position of Gol, leader in air passenger transportation in the State and also in Brazil," the airline said in a statement.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Gol is currently the second-largest airline at São Paulo Guarulhos with a 23.2% market share by capacity. The market leader, LATAM Airlines Brasil, has a 34.3% market share.
