PIA - Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad International) has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) concerning the lease of up to three narrowbody aircraft seating at least 170 passengers and one widebody seating at least 300 passengers with deliveries between the second and the fourth quarter of 2020.

According to the tender documentation, the Pakistani flag carrier is planning to dry-lease the narrowbodies for six years or until the next 12-yearly check. The airline is requesting aircraft manufactured in 2008 or later and is open to lessors submitting offers for any number of aircraft up to three.

PIA will evaluate the bids on several criteria, including the age of the aircraft, delivery schedule, commonality between aircraft offered under the same bid, in-flight entertainment installed, engine and aircraft commonality with types already operated by PIA, and the status of engines and the APU unit.

The widebody aircraft will be dry leased for three years extendable by another three. PIA is seeking an aircraft with at least 300 seats in a two-class configuration, manufactured in 2008 or later, and with in-seat monitors installed.

Bids in both RFPs are due by March 24, 2020.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, PIA's narrowbody fleet currently includes thirteen A320-200s. The airline's widebody equipment consists of six B777-200(ER)s, two B777-200(LR)s, and four B777-300(ER)s. PIA also operates five ATR42-500s and five ATR72-500s.
