Air Madagascar (Antananarivo) has tasked Dubai-based aviation consultancy firm Aerotask to find leasing deals for one of its two A340-300s on the global market. The Malagasy national carrier currently operates two aircraft of the type: 5R-EAA (cn 319) which is stored at Antananarivo and TF-EAB (cn 210), a machine wet-leased from Air Atlanta Icelandic (CC, Reykjavik Keflavik) for use on flights to Europe.

Air Madagascar has been left with excess international capacity following the termination of loss-making flights to Guangzhou and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi in January. During the upcoming summer season, flights on the carrier's mainstay routes to France will also be curtailed with Antananarivo-Paris CDG to drop from 3x weekly, to 2x weekly, from mid-June onwards.
