Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has announced Makassar as its first base for the first of 18 CRJ1000ERs it has on order with the first aircraft expected to be in scheduled operation from October 16 initially operating from Makassar to Denpasar and from there to both Surabaya and Yogyakarta Adisutjipto. It plans to then gradually introduce the CRJ-1000s on scheduled flights, first mainly on new and existing routes from Makassar as well as Balikpapan, Surabaya and Ternate.
