Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) has announced two new bases at Alicante Elche Miguel Hernández and London Gatwick this week that will start operating from spring 2013. Following its two bases at Gran Canaria and Málaga which both only have routes to Scandinavia, it will now start venturing into other routes from London Gatwick with three B737-800s to be based at the airport. Its base in Alicante Elche Miguel Hernández will also only have new routes to Scandinavia following the example of Malaga and Las Palmas. Norwegian had previously operated a base at Warsaw Chopin between 2006 and 2010 but has since again concentrated on routes from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. From Alicante, Norwegian plans to add new routes to Billund, Harstad/Narvik, Haugesund, Karlstad, Malmö, Molde, Oulu, Tromsø and Umeå. From Gatwick it plans to initially add Alicante Elche Miguel Hernández, Barcelona El Prat, Dubrovnik, Faro, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Málaga, Marseilles, Nice, Palma de Mallorca, Rome Fiumicino, Split, Tenerife Sur and Tromsø.
