Southwest Airlines (WN, Dallas Love Field) has announced that it will take over the three daily flights of subsidiary AirTran Airways (Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) from Orlando International to San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin and one of its two daily flights from Tampa International to San Juan from April 14, 2013. These two new routes are a landmark announcement for Southwest which never in its history has previously operated on any routes outside the Lower 48 states of the United States. AirTran currently also serves San Juan from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson, Baltimore International and Fort Lauderdale International.
