DAT (Denmark) (DX, Kolding) is considering a full or partial sale of the only executive jet it operates, a Citation Excel, due to low utilisation. CEO Jesper Rungholm told ch-aviation the carrier remains open to providing partial or full crew or management services for the aircraft under new ownership.

The 23.6-year-old jet, OY-JRU (msn 560-5236), is configured for up to nine passengers and has been placed on DAT's air operator's certificate (AOC) since early 2022. Despite being available for charter, it has logged just 14 flights in 2025, including two test flights around Billund, where it is based.

“We don't find the pricing on the charter market attractive and have used it only for economically feasible operations,” Rungholm explained. “We have also used it as a corporate aircraft, but very little.”

In a LinkedIn post, Rungholm noted that the aircraft is valued at under USD2 million. DAT is open to either a complete divestment or a shared-ownership model, offering potential buyers the option to acquire up to one-third shares. “It could also remain available for charter if a new owner wishes,” he added.

Prior to this Citation Excel, DAT operated a Citation I/SP between 1987 and 1999, followed by a French-registered Citation II from 2019 until 2023. The sale of the Citation Excel would mark the end of the carrier's executive jet operations.

DAT continues to focus on regional scheduled passenger services in Denmark, Germany, Italy, and Norway, primarily on state subsidised routes, alongside ACMI and charter operations, using a fleet of Airbus and ATR - Avions de Transport Régional aircraft.
