Royal Air Maroc (AT, Casablanca Mohammed V) has agreed to lease 13 new B737-8s from DAE Capital with deliveries scheduled for 2027, the lessor announced on January 29.
The deal builds on an earlier agreement under which DAE leased two B737-8s to the Moroccan flag carrier, delivered in 2025, and supports Royal Air Maroc’s fleet expansion and network growth plans.
DAE chief executive Firoz Tarapore said the agreement underscores confidence in Morocco’s growing tourism and business markets, while Royal Air Maroc CEO Abdelhamid Addou said the aircraft will boost efficiency, flexibility, and route development across Africa, Europe, and beyond.
Royal Air Maroc already dry-leases thirteen B737-8s from various lessors, with one more from Castlelake due for delivery (currently stored at Doha Hamad International after having been operated by Qatar Airways), according to ch-aviation fleet data.
The rest of the carrier's in-house narrowbody fleet comprises twenty-eight B737-800s and one B737-800(BBJ).
The new leases are in line with the airline's plans to lease additional capacity ahead of deliveries of 200 new aircraft it has ordered, the first of which are due in 2028. The airline plans to lease a third of its overall fleet by 2035.
To fill a capacity gap during the IATA winter season, Royal Air Maroc has been wet-leasing two A320-200s from Heston Airlines and two A320-200s from Avion Express Malta. Its entire in-house fleet currently totals 61 aircraft.
