JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) has announced that it would have to postpone the planned launch of its new four times weekly service between Tokyo Narita and Helsinki Vantaa initially scheduled for February 25 until further notice. JAL had planned to introduce the new route with new B787-8s but has no replacement aircraft available now that the entire B787-8 fleet has been grounded worldwide. JAL president Yoshiharu Ueki has announced that JAL would seek compensation from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) once the aircraft are operating again but would concentrate on cooperating with the aircraft manufacturer in the meantime to ensure operations could continue "again safely" as soon as possible.
