Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) is in talks with the Welsh government about establishing a base or launching several new routes from Cardiff according to a report by Wales Online. The government is in the final stages of acquiring the airport back from Spanish airport operator Abertis. Vueling Airlines (VY, Barcelona El Prat) is currently the only low-cost carrier serving Cardiff offering flights to Alicante Elche Miguel Hernández, Barcelona El Prat, Málaga and Palma de Mallorca.
