ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda) and competitors China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan), EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) and JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) will likely see increased competition between Tokyo and Taiwan following Japan’s decision to remove restrictions from the bilateral air services agreement with Taiwan that had put a limit on the number of weekly flights between Tokyo and Taiwan. All four carriers currently operate from Taipei Songshan to Tokyo Haneda and from Taipei Taoyuan to Tokyo Narita. In addition, Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International), Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) and low-cost carrier Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi) currently operate between Taipei Taoyuan and Tokyo Narita. While Haneda is heavily slot constrained, other Japanese and Taiwanese carriers are expected to launch flights from Narita in coming months.
