Hong Kong Express (Hong Kong International) has officially unveiled its strategic plan to reinvent itself as Hong Kong's own Low Cost Carrier. The airline expects to offer its first flights in October using a fleet of five A320s, with longterm aims of acquiring a fleet of thirty come 2018. The carrier has identified Kunming Changshui, Chongqing and Kota Kinabalu as potential launch routes with ambitions to serve other cities in China, Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea. According to Executive Chairman, Yang Jianhong, Hong Kong Express expects to break even in two years, and as an added measure to protect its interests, will oppose the Hong Kong government awarding an operating license to Jetstar Hong Kong (Hong Kong International) because of what it terms, "limited slots and parking space at Hong Kong International."
