ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda) and Emirates (EK, Dubai International) are both said to be in talks with San Miguel Corporation over potential investments and partnerships in Filipino national carrier, Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila Ninoy Aquino International). The news comes after the Lucio Tan Group last month announced plans to offload its 51% controlling stake in the carrier. San Miguel owns the remaining 49%. According to the PhilippineFlightNetwork, while foreign airlines are, at present, restricted to owning a maximum of 40% in Philippine Airlines, there have been whispers of a possible amendment to the law as a means of boosting foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country.
