Island Air (Hawaii) (Honolulu) is reportedly unsatisfied with its fleet of four ATR72-200s and is now mulling possible replacements. A report carried in The Honolulu Star-Advertiser claims that CEO Paul Casey had sent out an email to the airline's employees lamenting the fleet's poor performance which in one case, resulted in a seven-hour delay. "We have an unreliable fleet and are currently working on a re-fleeting plan with the owner," Casey said in an email obtained by the Star-Advertiser. "This process will take a few weeks but the plan is to acquire a new fleet of reliable turboprops." The 20-year old ATRs were introduced last year as replacements for a fleet of DHC-8-100s. While the airline has refused to discuss the matter in public, analysts have pointed to the DHC-8-400, which Island Air flew briefly in 2006, and the ATR72-600 as possible replacements. Island Air operates scheduled Hawaiian island-hopper passenger services with flights between Honolulu, Kahului, Kapalua, Kaunakakai, Lanai City, Kona and Lihue.
