Camair-Co (QC, Douala) has reportedly set its sights on acquiring one of the five B777-200LRs that Air India (AI, Delhi International) recently put up for sale. Quoting unnamed sources close to the deal, the Wall Street Journal said that Douala had already sent a team to Delhi International to inspect the aircraft. Whether Camair-Co will acquire or lease the aircraft from a third party is uncertain. The Indian national carrier's board is expected to make a decision on the bids submitted for the aircraft in due course. Camair-Co has often blamed its current sole B767-300(ER)'s inadequate on-board premium-class product for the airline's lack of competitiveness on long-haul routes to Europe and saw the 777 as a more suitable replacement. Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) and an undisclosed aircraft lessor have also reportedly submitted bids.
