TAM Linhas Aéreas (São Paulo Congonhas) could resume domestic regional flights with a potential acquisition of either ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) or Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos U.E. Stumpf International) aircraft to boot, the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo reported Monday. The report says that TAM is mulling the possibility of returning to its roots after Brasilia announced plans to offer incentives to airlines plying domestic regional routes. Founded in 1976, TAM's originally operated E110s throughout the Southeast and Central West regions of Brazil before eventually growing into the regional and international markets. TAM is reportedly in talks with Embraer though nothing decisive has yet been agreed to.
