Air India (AI, Delhi International) is the topic of privatization talks again according to several news outlets in India. On Sunday opposition parties including the left slammed the Civil Aviation minister Ajit Singh for saying that the government would be ready to privatize the airline and accused him of selling public assets. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad warned the minister against making any such public remarks before the issue will be discussed in parliament. Ajit Singh told NDTV that the government had no immediate intention to privatize Air India but that after the latest financial rescue package, Air India would have to "fend for itself".
