SaudiGulf Airlines (SGQ, Dammam) is set to enter Saudi Arabia's domestic market in Winter 2014, operating alongside Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) subsidiary Al Maha Airways (Riyadh), Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) and flynas (XY, Riyadh). Backed by Dammam-based Abdel Hadi Abdullah Al-Qahtani & Sons Group of Companies, Saudi Gulf Airlines counts Gulf Air (GF, Bahrain International) as a consultant (and not a parent as reported at large) and plans to serve Riyadh and Jeddah International from Dammam three times daily. No fleeting plans have been unveiled as yet. In its next phase, the Arab News writes, the airline plans to increase flights and expand its domestic network to Madinah, Gassim, Abha and Tabuk, before further expanding into the Near East, the Middle East and Africa.
