Air Armenia (Yerevan) and its Russian counterparts, Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo), Transaero Airlines (Moscow Vnukovo) and S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk), are set to see a rise in competition on Armenia - Russia flights after both nations recently agreed to open up their skies to one another. Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia, says a new bilateral agreement will see the removal of all restrictions on the number of destinations that can be served as well as the number of carriers, frequencies and aircraft types that can be used on flights between the two countries. The agreement was signed in Moscow on December 24, 2013 and is due to come into effect during the course of this year.
