Syphax Airlines (Sfax) and Tunisair (TU, Tunis) have suspended flights to Sebha citing the poor security situation in the central Libyan city. Tunisair had operated a twice weekly B737-600 flight to the city from Tunis while Syphax had served Sebha from Sfax with a twice weekly A319-100 service. Meantime, traffic slack will be taken up by Afriqiyah Airways (8U, Tripoli Mitiga) and Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga) which continue to serve Tunisia out of Sebha with no immediate plans to suspend any flights. Since the overthrow of strongman Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has struggled to quell sporadic violence and upheavals that have now become the norm throughout the country.
