Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga) has converted an existing order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for four A350-800s into A350-900s. In addition, the Libyan national carrier has also ordered an additional two A350-900s bringing its total A350 order to six. FlightGlobal says the change was only discovered on inspection of Airbus' January order and delivery data. The Libyans placed their order for four A350-800s in January 2008. In a related development, the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) has also switched its last remaining six A350-800 orders into -900 variants. As it stands, dwindling order numbers have left the future of the -800 variant very much in doubt.
