Fiji Link (FJA, Nadi) is set to take delivery of its first ATR72-600, cn 1146, early next month the Fiji Airways (FJ, Nadi) subsidiary has announced. The arrival of the turboprop in the South Pacific will also herald the transformation of the carrier from its current Pacific Sun (Nadi) branding into Fiji Link.
As previously reported, initial services will likely cover Nadi to Apia Faleolo, Tongatapu, and Port Vila, as well as from Suva to Apia Faleolo.
Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Group Managing Director and CEO said: “We are committed to grow in the South Pacific and the domestic markets as part of our Five Year Master plan. The arrival of the larger ATR 72-600 aircraft marks the beginning of our fleet modernisation plan for Fiji Link."
A first ATR42-600 and a second ATR72-600 are also scheduled to arrive in November and December paving the way for the airline's two existing ATR42-500s - DQ-PSA (cn 554) and DQ-PSB (cn 534) - to be retired.
