Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has taken delivery of its first B787-8, HS-TQA (msn 35315), from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) following its arrival at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi on July 18. The twinjet is the first of eight B787s the Thai carrier has on lease from Dutch leasing firm, AerCap.
The B787 will make its commercial début with Thai on July 25 on Bangkok Suvarnabhumi to Chiang Mai flights.
With the delivery of the second B787-8 in September, Thai will deploy the type onto international flights to Perth International, Australia and Tokyo Haneda, Japan. Thereafter, with the airline's third B787-8 due in October, so the type will be deployed on flights to Tokyo Narita, Kuala Lumpur International, and Hanoi Noi Bai International.
The fourth B787-8 aircraft is expected in December and will operate Nagoya Chubu flights.
Two B787-9s are expected in 2017.
