Urumqi Air (UQ, Urumqi) commenced revenue services on Friday, August 29, with flights to the border town of Yining. With the arrival of its first aircraft, a B737-800 WIN., B-2157 (msn 32600), sourced from parent Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou), so the start-up secured its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

With another two twinjets to enter revenue service shortly, Urumqi plans to offer flights to Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou while at the same time developing additional routes within the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.
