Avior Airlines (9V, Barcelona José Antonio Anzoategui) has taken delivery of its first widebody aircraft after A340-300 YV3292 (cn 199) arrived at Barcelona José Antonio Anzoategui on Tuesday, September 7.

The Venezuelan carrier is expecting a second of the type - cn 201 - at some point in the near future. A total of six are expected as part of a USD150 million investment.

As previously reported, the aircraft will be used on European, South American, and US services with an anticipated November 1 launch date. However, given their size and operational requirements, the A340s have warranted a change in operational base for Avior. Plans are currently underway to shift its hub from Barcelona to Caracas Simón Bolivar.
