First Nation Airways (Lagos) has resumed operations following a near three week-long suspension. One of the carrier's two A319-100s - 5N-FNE (cn 660) - was used to operate its inaugural flight between Lagos and Abidjan on Sunday, September 18.

First Nation Airways has denied reports in the Nigerian press claiming the suspension of flights was due to the poor state of financial affairs. In a statement, Rasheed Yusuf, FirstNation’s Head of Corporate Affairs, said both aircraft were required to undergo routine maintenance this month. However, difficulties in clearing parts through Nigerian customs had lead to a delayed return to service.

“FirstNation is not on the verge of folding up. In reality, since the airline launched services in 2011, it has built a strong followership and has been rated consistently as market leader on safety and schedule integrity,” he said.
