Emirates (EK, Dubai International) President Timothy Clark says the UAE-based carrier hopes to take delivery of its first of fifty Rolls-Royce-powered A380-800s in December despite their experiencing some "unspecified technical issues".

“We have a new engine coming on and there are some issues with that at the moment,” Clark was quoted by Bloomberg during a media briefing in Frankfurt last week. “We want the engines as promised in the contract.”

Emirates is due to take delivery of its first Trent 972-84-powered A380 on December 2.

At present, Emirates' fleet of eighty-six A380s is powered exclusively by Engine Alliance GP 7270 powerplants. Engine Alliance is a joint-venture between General Electric and Pratt & Whitney.
