Nolinor Aviation (N5, Montréal Trudeau) is set to establish a base at Montréal MET Airport after it acquired the Hangar H-18 building at the airfield for CAD5.5 million (USD4.2 million).
Former owner CYHU H-18 Services Inc., a St. Hubert-based groundhandling provider, said in a statement the facility, which is located at the threshold of runway 24R, features 18,500sqm of ramp space of which 2,800sqm is hangar space with a 16-metre clearance.
Nolinor Aviation plans to use the hangar to maintain its B737-200 fleet once the transition has been completed. It is also considering using St. Hubert for future commercial operations given its proximity to downtown Montreal (16 kilometres east).
"Following announcements made at the Quebec Regional Transportation Summit, we are currently reflecting on the potential business opportunities that may arise for future programs," Nolinor Vice President, Marco Prud'Homme, said in a statement.
Nolinor Aviation has an existing primary base at Montréal Mirabel which it intends to retain. It currently operates one B737-200(Adv.), five (C)s, one (F), one (QC), and one B737-300(QC) on commercial charter flights across Canada and North America at large.
