Cyprus Airways (1947) (Larnaca) has continued the renewal of its A320 family fleet by adding three ex-China Southern Airlines (CZ/Guangzhou) A320-200s and an ex-Air Berlin (AB/Berlin Tegel) A319-100s, but is however considering leasing out its A330-200s and to make further staff and route network cuts to reduce its heavy losses. Cyprus Airways has received a 20 EUR compensation payment from the Cyprus government for the overflight ban imposed on its flights preventing flights over Turkey. It has given up its routes from Larnaca to Amman Queen Alia, Birmingham, Brussels Ntl, Cairo, Damascus and London Stansted and from Paphos to Birmingham, Frankfurt Intl and London Stansted. It will also terminate its routes from Paphos to Thessaloniki on September 1 and to London Heathrow on October 25. In better news, it has launched up to daily A320-200 service from Larnaca to St. Petersburg on April 1. It has signed codeshare agreements with Olympic Air (OA/Athens), Syrianair (RB/Damascus) and Virgin Atlantic (VS/London Heathrow) to offer its passengers better connectivity with Greece and connections via London Heathrow to the North America and to be able to continue to offer two weekly Larnaca-Damascus services.
