KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol) has scheduled its final B747-400(M)-operated commercial service for early 2021, although the airline's all-passenger version of the type will continue flying beyond that date, Routes Online has reported.

At this stage, the Combi's final flight will be as KL644 New York JFK-Amsterdam Schiphol, on January 4, 2021. According to the ch-aviation Commercial Aviation Aircraft Data module, the airline still has six of the variant in operation - namely PH-BFH (msn 24518), PH-BFS (msn 28195), PH-BFT (msn 28459), PH-BFV (msn 28460), PH-BFW (msn 30454), and PH-BFY (msn 30455). Currently, the Skyteam carrier uses the aircraft on its services to México City International (daily), Los Angeles International (daily), Toronto Pearson (5x weekly), JFK (5x weekly) and Delhi International (1x weekly). The airline's services to Curaçao, Los Angeles, Paramaribo International, Toronto, and Delhi are flown by a mix of B747-400s and B747-400(M)s.

In addition to the Combis, KLM also retains the services of two all-passenger variant B747-400s - PH-BFL (msn 25356) and PH-BFN (msn 26372). When referring to the schedules, these aircraft are expected to continue flying into March 2021, operating flights to Toronto and Paramaribo.

These two remaining aircraft are currently configured with 337 economy seats, 36 economy plus, and 35 business class seats for a total of 408 seats. By comparison, due to main deck cargo hold at the rear of the aircraft, the Combis have just 268 seats, with just 197 in economy, but the same number in the economy plus and business cabins.
