Delayed for two months due to COVID-19 restrictions, Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) next month reopens its base at Venice Treviso following the airport’s scheduled reopening on June 1, 2021.
The Irish budget carrier initially planned to reopen its base in Treviso on March 30, 2021, but this was postponed as the airport was forced to close following renewed lockdown restrictions imposed in Italy from March 15. Treviso Airport, mainly used by low-cost carriers, is located about 31km away from Venice.
Ryanair will station two Malta Air (MAY, Malta International) B737-800s in Treviso, making it the airline’s 15th base in Italy, the airline announced earlier.
This summer, it plans to connect the airport to 48 destinations, including 43 international and five domestic ones. This would include the following new destinations:
From June:
- 1x weekly to Kerkyra (Greece);
- 2x weekly to Oslo Gardermoen (Norway);
- 4x weekly to Bristol International (UK);
- 2x weekly to Chania (Greece);
- 2x weekly to Riga (Latvia);
- 2x weekly to Trapani (Italy);
- 2x weekly to Alicante and Palma de Mallorca (Spain);
- 2x weekly to Suceava (Romania).
From July:
The new base and capacity in Treviso mean Ryanair will offer 65 routes in total from Treviso, Verona, and Venice Marco Polo, the three airports serving the Veneto north-eastern Italian region. During the closure of Treviso, more of the carrier's services operated out of Venice Marco Polo temporarily.
