US's ExpressJet plans restart as charter carrier using B777s
19.07.2023 - 19:26 UTCExpressJet Airlines (Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) intends to restart as a passenger charter carrier initially with one B777-200ER after being saved from liquidation by new owner Polaris 8 LLC, owned by siblings Vandi and Sami Cooyar, who also own Nevada-based lessor and charter operator Logistic Air (Reno/Tahoe) and firefighting specialist Global SuperTanker Services (GST, Colorado Springs).
Formerly in service with JAL - Japan Airlines as JA711J, B777-246ER N771LG (msn 33396) is owned by Logistic and will be leased to ExpressJet, according to a filing to the US Department of Transportation. It is currently stored at Victorville, according to ch-aviation fleets advanced data.

Mexico's Aeronaves TSM orders six incremental CRJ200(SF)s
07.04.2023 - 15:16 UTCAeronaves TSM (VTM, Saltillo) has ordered six incremental CRJ200ER(SF) converted freighters from Aeronautical Engineers, Inc.
The conversion supplier said it had already begun modifying the first aircraft at the Commercial Jet facility at Dothan airport. The deliveries of all six aircraft will complete by June 2024. The airline already operates eleven CRJ200ER(SF)s, as well as one CRJ200LR and one CRJ200LR(PF), the ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows. The Mexican cargo specialist owns a further twelve CRJ200s via its investment vehicle Frontera Flight Holdings. Two of these - ex-Endeavor Air N977EV (msn 7720) and ex-ExpressJet Airlines N973EV (msn 7575) - are already under conversion at Dothan.
Aeronaves TSM's extensive freighter fleet also comprises one B737-300(F), two B737-400(F)s, three B737-400(SF)s, one CRJ100, two CRJ100ER(PF)s, four DC-9-10Fs, one DC-9-10RC, three DC-9-30(CF)s, three DC-9-30Fs, three DC-9-30RCs, four MD-82(SF), and eleven MD-83(SF)s. In addition, it operates twenty-five Metroliner(F)s and two CV-640 freighters.
Air Botswana puts last ATR42-500 up for sale
21.11.2022 - 08:29 UTCAir Botswana (BP, Gaborone) is selling its only remaining ATR42-500, A2-ABN (msn 507), according to a tender notice published by the state-owned carrier.
The airline has invited bids on an “as is, where is” basis. The tender is open to all interested domestic and international buyers. The 26-year-old ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprop is stored at Gaborone and can be viewed on weekdays by bidders after purchasing the tender documents from the airline. Sealed bids must be submitted on or before 1400L (1200Z) on December 8, 2022.
Asked for comment, General Manager Agnes Khunwana said the airline had taken a business decision to sell the aircraft “to try and establish market needs”. The aircraft is the last of five ATR42-500s once operated by the regional Southern African airline.

Nigeria's Rano Air nears certification - report
18.11.2022 - 13:59 UTCWhile finalising its certification, Nigerian startup Rano Air has received delivery of another EMB-145LRs to start commercial operations in 2022, according to announcements and videos posted on social media.
Aviation Nigeria reports Rano Air is in the final stages of attaining an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), but neither the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) nor the nascent carrier were immediately available to confirm.
As reported, Rano Air in January restarted its drive for an Air Transport License (ATL).
According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced, the carrier has secured five EMB-145LRs:
- 5N-BZU (msn 145562) stored in Abuja;
- 5N-BZV (msn 145565) in maintenance at Ben Slimane, Morocco;
- 5N-BZW (msn 145585) in maintenance at Ben Slimane:
- 5N-BZX (msn 145587) stored in Abuja;
- 5N-BZY (msn 145628) in maintenance at Ben Slimane.
Ownership of the aircraft is unknown, but they were formerly operated by ExpressJet Airlines (Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) under the United Express brand.
