Ex-Uganda Airlines boss arrested, charged
23.06.2022 - 07:24 UTCUganda Airlines (UR, Entebbe/Kampala) former chief executive officer Cornwell Muleya appeared in a Kampala court on June 22 after he was arrested on June 21 for disobeying orders of the Ugandan Inspectorate of Government to give evidence on alleged mismanagement at the airline under his tenure.
According to the charge sheet seen by ch-aviation, Muleya between May and June 2022 “willfully and without reasonable justification or excuse, refused to comply with an order of the Inspectorate of Government dated May 23, 2022, requiring his attendance to give evidence and produce documents to the Inspectorate of Government, regarding mismanagement of public funds, procurements, and recruitment of staff at the Uganda Airlines”.
Muleya was arraigned before Buganda Road Magistrate’s Court after spending a night in custody and charged with contravening section 35 (a) of the Inspectorate of Government Act, 2002. Competition heats up in Uganda with startups lining up
08.04.2022 - 09:09 UTCCompetition in the Ugandan air service sector is set to receive a shot in the arm with the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) having received four new applications for air services licenses (ASLs) after having greenlighted startup Bar Aviation (HE, Kajjansi) earlier this year, according to local media reports.
New Vision newspaper reports that Ugandan engineering and construction company Dott Services Limited, Safari Air International Limited, freight company Panafrica Aviation Limited, and Aberdair Aviation Uganda Limited - the Ugandan affiliate of Kenya's Aberdair Aviation Group - will defend their ASL applications before the UCAA on May 5, 2022.
They report the licenses are for the following:
- Dott Services Limited has applied for an ASL to operate a Cessna 510;
- Safari Air International Limited has applied for an ASL to operate Cessna Aircraft Company 421C Golden Eagle, Beech (twin piston) Baron G58, and the Fuji FA-200 Aero Subaru single-piston-powered monoplane;
- Panafric Aviation Limited has applied for an ASL using Piper (twin turboprop) PA-34 Seneca; and
- Aberdair Aviation Uganda Limited...
