Air India Express (IX, Mumbai International) and AIX Connect (I5, Bangalore International) (formerly known as AirAsia India) have merged their reservation systems as they look to complete their merger.
"The integration of the core reservations and passenger-facing systems of Air India Express and AirAsia India marks a significant milestone in the Air India Group's transformation journey. This new Air India Express, operating both domestically and internationally using systems optimised for low-cost airlines, gives the Group a much stronger LCC platform," Air India (AI, Mumbai International) Chief Executive Campbell Wilson said.
The migration included unifying the airline's customer service and social media presence. Regarding their reservations system, the merged airline will largely use systems previously used by AIX Connect, as they are better suited for the low-cost carrier. The ch-aviation PRO airlines module shows that AIX Connect uses the NewSkies reservation system provided by Amadeus IT Group, while Air India Express used Radixx International Ress. The Indian government is preparing to sell off former subsidiaries of the now-privatised Air India (AI, Mumbai International), in the process raising INR30 billion rupees (USD365.2 million dollars), according to India's LiveMint outlet.
When the government sold Air India and Air India Express to Tata Sons in early 2022, it retained four subsidiaries, namely AI Airport Services (AIASL), Alliance Air (India) (9I, Mumbai International), Air India Engineering Services Ltd (AIESL), and Hotel Corp. of India Ltd, parking them in a special purpose vehicle called AI Asset Holdings Ltd.
AIESL is India's largest MRO provider. It handled 450 aircraft in the 12 months to March 31, 2022, and generated net profit of INR8.4 billion (USD102 million) in the same period. AIASL provides groundhandling services at over 100 airports across India and generated a net profit of INR154 million (USD1.9 million) in the same period. Of the four subsidiaries, AIESL and AIASL are the most profitable. The Indian government reportedly expects to reap between INR18 billion (USD219 million) and INR19 billion (USD231 million) for...

The CEO of Vistara (UK, Delhi International) says the impending merger with Air India (AI, Mumbai International) will not result in any job losses. Speaking at a conference in Delhi recently, Vinod Kannan said all 5,100 Vistara employees will transition across to Air India.
“There will be chances for everyone in the greater entity. They will all be included in the new amalgamated business," he told media. Kannan's comments back up comments made by Air India CEO Campbell Wilson in February. “While planning for the merger of Vistara into Air India, we want to ensure that everyone in the group has a position and future," Wilson said.
According to Kannan, around 80% of Vistara's employees work in operations. He says that while some of those Vistara employees may experience a "designation change" after their induction into Air India, the merged entity will be three times the size of Vistara and offer employees significant scope for advancement. Regarding non-operational support employees, Kannan pointed out that Air India had consistently failed to fill support positions while...
