Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) is said to be in talks with Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) about the latter's 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic (VS, London Heathrow) according to the Sunday Times. Singapore Airlines has confirmed that it is in talks with potential buyers but did not specifically confirm negotiations with Delta. The US carrier had previously been interested in a similar transaction and would have to partner with a European Union based investor to gain control of Virgin Atlantic whose founder Richard Branson still owns a 51% majority stake in the long-haul carrier. Delta has reportedly been exploring such options with its joint venture and alliance partner Air France-KLM.
