AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur International) will soon re-enter the Kuala Lumpur International to Delhi International and Mumbai International markets writes Group CEO Tan Sri "Tony" Fernandes. According to Mr. Fernandes, the two routes "could provide a feeder service" to AirAsia India (Bengaluru International), a 49:30:21 joint venture between AirAsia, Tata Sons and Telstra Tradeplace, which will cater primarily to India's Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and should operations commence later this year. Despite the two routes' high operating costs - the original cause for the Malaysian LCC's withdrawal - AirAsiaX's reconsideration of flights to the subcontinent comes as a result of an Indian law that currently prohibits new airlines, in this case its aforementioned Indian subsidiary, from operating international routes for the first five years of their operations.
