easyJet (London Luton) will indeed establish Hamburg as its second German base effective Spring 2014. Unveiling her company's plans for the city during a visit to the Airbus facilities at Hamburg Finkenwerder on Wednesday, September 25, CEO Carolyn McCall said three A319-100s would initially be based there with 15 new additional routes to be added to its existing portfolio of six (Rome Fiumicino, London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester, Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH and Edinburgh). According to Ms McCall, more frequencies and early morning departures from Hamburg will make easyJet "more attractive to business passengers." Additionally, an extra A319 will be based at Berlin Schönefeld also in Spring 2014. The aircraft will operate additional frequencies on key routes and add a capacity of 130,000 seats in the first year of operation.
