Air Costa (Vijayawada) is set to unveil Hyderabad International as its second operating hub effective December 10. According to the airline, flights will be offered to Chennai, Vijayawada, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Bangalore International using its fleet of two E170s. In October, LEPL Group, a Vijayawada-based real estate and renewable energy company, announced plans to invest over INR6.17billion (USD100 million) into the airline over the next two years. The funds will be used to increase the airline's fleet by two E190s by year-end with a further five aircraft due next year. In the long term, Air Costa aims to operate a total of twenty-five aircraft by 2018.

Indian court orders Air Costa into insolvency proceedings
21.11.2019 - 03:01 UTCIndia's bankruptcy court, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), has ordered defunct South Indian low-cost carrier Air Costa (Vijayawada) to undergo a corporate insolvency resolution process, the Economic Times reported.
The carrier launched in 2012 and expanded to pan-Indian operations in October 2016. However, it suspended all flights in February 2017 due to unresolved "financial issues" with its lessor GECAS, from which it leased three E190s. Plans to restart operations were scuppered in June 2017 when India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) suspended its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) following three months of inactivity.
Air Costa is now the second Indian airline, after Jet Airways (JAI, Mumbai International), to undergo a court-monitored debt resolution process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, the country's bankruptcy law passed in 2016.

Embraer pitches Regional Jets to Indian carriers
12.03.2018 - 18:35 UTCEmbraer (EMB, Sao Jose dos Campos) has confirmed it is in talks with several Indian airlines over the sale of E175 aircraft.
The Brazilian manufacturer's Vice President (Sales & Marketing - Asia Pacific), Cesar Pereira, told the Press Trust of India news agency that among those being courted over their interest in the Regional Jet are IndiGo Airlines, SpiceJet, Air India, Jet Airways, and Vistara. Currently, the bulk of Indian airlines' regional fleets are composed primarily of Bombardier Aerospace and ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprop aircraft with the now dormant Air Costa (Vijayawada) having been the E170's only Indian operator before it moved to E190s.
